Hi everybody,

this blog will still be around as the admin website for the time being for us to type in our views and events,

but for the publicity section i have created another blog od08.blogspot.com

this blogspot blog will be for our marketing uses. so do try to add in any articles of sort if

u come across any articles on disabled sports athlete or something relevant to it. it can be a video, ppt,

anything =D

od.blogspot.com will be a website we will put on our brochures, all printed materials.

meanwhile, have a good weekend ahead!

A change of website...

Hi all, this is peng yong, the guy who started this website/blog.

After using this blog server(livejournal) for a week, i believe it is not a good platform because i was not able to include a tagboard into the blog itself, so i will be making doing up another blog using another host(blogspot) as i am more familiar with the settings over there. A tagboard is a place where one can leave a comment and it will serve as a good platform for discussions to be held.

I am also thinking about opening up a yahoo group of sorts. I do not know of any other websites that provides the same service as that of yahoo group, so if u know of any, please leave a comment of juz start one! +D

I hope it is not inconvenient for all, for the time being, this blog will still be here for view and the blog entries here will be also visible on the new blog that will most probably be up by the end of the week.

The first post, the first speech to garner support and volunteers for OD'08 @ yvip afterglow

About YVIP'08 after glowThere was a lot of anticipation and happiness and abit of sadness when afterglow at last came. Everybody from the different groups and the comm were all present to share their experiences of the 2weeks of attachment at their designated homes. Everyone was understandably emotional after the speech as pictures were taken, phone numbers were exchanged, as this could be the last time they might see each other because school is starting soon.

About Team Publicity's Speech on SVC and OD'08
Presenter: Gary, Peng Yong

Gary was amazing as he briefed the looming crowd about SVC and what it offers. He also described the game of BOCCIA to the floor and it was a good job as everyone understood him.
Peng yong was next up to complete the last portion of the talk, on OD'08. Unfortunately he did not present exactly as well as he could. I believe he was a bit nervous and he under prepared. Nonetheless, he tried his best and the message of SVC and OD's needing alot of volunteers plus participants was put across. Believe with further informing through mass media and talks, the participants will be more willing to come forward.

Lastly wish everyone a great new year ahead and OD'08 a success!

Present: Hui Li, Peng Yong, Timothy, Travis, Yi Hui

-Awaiting SDSC/SSC publicity plans so that we can collaborate with them and sync our publicity activities.

Phase one simplified. Targetting only
CJC, RJC->Travis
SAJC, NYJC->Hui Li

Yi Hui to confirm number of volunteers to recruit for BOCCIA.

Stuck with "Around the world in a day" tag theme.
Bocciaa game's total score= distance accumulated

Ideas considering:
1) commitment based target for participants on the distance covering.
2) Having olympic torch.
3) Jigsaw to represent distance accumlated.
4) Using Advert board around the stadium. After certain distance. Put on one
advert board.
5) Art competition. Still pending approval. Targeting primary schools around the area. Target to use winning designs to print on post cards and sell.Theme: Sports VOlunteer Celebrate. Plans to get AEP and arts school to be organizing this. Also need sponsor for this.

Designing of publicity materials

Phase 2, Possibility of doing road show with SHINE's events.-> Hui Li to check with shine.

Things need to be done asap:
1) Sent Letters to schools so as to get slots for talks.
2) Get speakers and to train them.
3) Get the collaterals and video all done up asap.
4) Get volunteers for particiapating in the events and help for publicity team.

Next meeting set on 10/1/08 7pm @ Raffles City Burger King.
Yi Hui will notify as date nears.
